Strong NGOs, strong maritime. We hosted YOUNGSHIP at our campaign office. We discussed the ideas, expectations, and views of our young maritime professionals on the future of the sector. The contribution of NGOs is invaluable for a maritime sector where the voice of youth is heard more strongly. We thank YOUNGSHIP for their kind visit. 🌊 #NewRouteAtSea

In the panel discussion titled “Global Trade in a Fractured World: Sanctions, Risks, Routes & Realignment,” we are assessing the key issues facing the global shipping industry. We are bringing the risks facing the sector back into focus, including geopolitical tensions, sanctions, shifting trade routes, and attacks in the Black Sea that directly impact maritime transport.

We came together with the esteemed representatives of our maritime community in İzmir. At our meeting, where we discussed the present state of our sector, its evolving needs, and its future, we also directly answered the questions of our maritime professionals. We addressed the importance of ensuring that the voice of İzmir and the Aegean is more strongly represented in our Chamber's decision-making processes. A strong Chamber of Shipping means a Chamber that is strong across all its regions. The way to achieve this is by listening to the field, hearing the questions and needs firsthand, and transforming them into concrete solutions. I would like to thank our maritime professionals from İzmir for their participation, sincere conversations, and valuable insights. We will continue working together for a stronger maritime sector.

We visited the İzmir Maritime Carriers Association (DND), Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Maritime Graduates Association (DEFMED), İTÜ DEFAMED İzmir Branch, and İzmir Chamber of Commerce to discuss our sector's agenda, expectations, and future. We listened to the questions, views, and suggestions of our maritime professionals from İzmir. Every meeting was invaluable in terms of seeing the different needs of our maritime sector up close and hearing directly from the field on the issues that require solutions. I would like to thank all our institutions for their hospitality and valuable contributions. This strong voice from İzmir is an important part of #NewRouteAtSea.

At SMM held in Hamburg, while closely following the developments shaping the future of global maritime, we visited the stands of our Turkish companies.

During our visit to WISTA Türkiye, we discussed the stronger presence of women in the sector, clearing the path for youth, and strengthening equal opportunities in maritime. The development of our maritime sector is also about how well we harness the potential of our human resources. Women and youth need to take on greater responsibilities not only in the future of maritime, but in its present as well; they must become more visible in decision-making mechanisms, in management, and in the field. To achieve this, we must offer stronger opportunities spanning from education to employment, from mentorship to leadership. Vira Bismillah! We shared in the excitement of our fishermen at the Opening of the General Fishing Season. I wish all our fishermen, who dedicate their labor to the sea and earn their livelihood from the waves, a safe, bountiful, and prosperous season. We will work together with a vision that preserves the bounty of our seas, empowers labor, and fosters sustainable fishing. May your bow be steady and your catch be plentiful.

During our visit to the TMMOB Chamber of Marine Engineers, we discussed our sector's international competitiveness, technological transformation, accelerating the integration of our youth into the industry, and supporting entrepreneurship with the Chairperson of the Board, Mr. İlham Çelebi, and our esteemed members. We must advance more rapidly, particularly in fields such as robotics and automation, facilitate the realization of new ideas, and clear the path for our young engineers. This requires stronger collaboration among the sector, professional organizations, and the public sector. We need a maritime vision that does not grow in isolation, but grows stronger together by sharing knowledge, experience, and resources. Our expectation is very clear: that the value and reputation of Turkish maritime continues to strengthen on the international stage with each passing day. I would like to thank Mr. İlham Çelebi and the esteemed members of the TMMOB Chamber of Marine Engineers for their valuable insights and gracious hospitality.

At the August Assembly Meeting of our Turkish Chamber of Shipping (İMEAK DTO), with the participation of Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mr. Durmuş Ünüvar and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mehmet Kemal Bozay, we had the opportunity to evaluate current developments closely concerning our maritime sector. During the meeting, we had the opportunity to assess the latest developments that could affect maritime trade and our seafarers in our region, as well as the risks of significance in terms of navigational safety. I also shared the sensitivities of our maritime community on these matters, the expectations from the field, and our views that could contribute to the resolution process. I believe that in such sensitive times, strong communication and coordination between our public institutions and the sector are of great importance for the safety of our maritime trade and the security of our seafarers. I would like to thank Mr. Mehmet Kemal Bozay and Mr. Durmuş Ünüvar for their valuable participation and contributions.

Everyone in the maritime sector has different needs, from large companies to small businesses, from fishermen to maritime workers. Yet everyone's expectation is the same: to have their voice heard and to find answers to their problems. For a stronger maritime sector, different fields need to better understand one another, and issues need to be properly channeled to the relevant institutions. This is precisely where our Chamber must take on a role: bringing together different segments of the sector, following up on issues, and paving the way for solutions.

The sea is our shared treasure, where thousands of people build their lives, earn their livelihoods, and place their hopes for the future. We came together with our fishermen at the Rumeli Feneri Cooperative. We sincerely listened to their firsthand experiences from the sea, the problems they face in daily life, and their expectations for the future. We had a heartfelt conversation on the protection of our seas, sustainable fishing, working conditions, and the future of the sector. As New Route at Sea, we advocate for an approach that listens to every stakeholder in the sector, observes problems on the ground, and produces solutions through collective wisdom. We will shape the future of our maritime together with the relevant institutions, our cooperatives, and the workers of the sea. Together, we will achieve a fair, inclusive, and sustainable transformation

We came together with our fishermen at the S.S. Poyrazköy Model Aquaculture Cooperative and exchanged views on numerous topics, from daily production and working conditions to the future of the sector. It is not enough to simply listen to our fishermen's problems; we must bring these issues to the right authorities and follow through on the resolution processes. We must work with all stakeholders to build a structure that supports sustainable fishing, protects labor, and responds more swiftly to the needs of the sector.

Together with the Beykoz Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association, we visited the Beykoz Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. While chatting with our teachers, we also toured the Maritime and Aquaculture Museum within the school. This rich collection, featuring numerous marine species assembled by the school over the years, is an invaluable effort that strengthens students' connection to the sea. Support for education must be increased so that our youth choose maritime as a profession and build a strong future in this field. Bringing the sector's experience closer to our schools and strengthening internship and employment opportunities for our students are also essential parts of this process.

Listening to the problems experienced in the field firsthand also shows where the solution needs to begin. We listened to our marine engineers' field experiences, the challenges the profession faces today, and the competencies we will need in the maritime of the future. We will work to ensure that this expertise is better reflected in decision-making processes, that the path is cleared for our young engineers, and that a stronger link is established between the sector's needs and education.

By visiting the International Transporters Association (UND), we discussed the complementary strengths of maritime and land transportation, port-hinterland connections, customs processes, intermodal transport, and Türkiye's goal of becoming a regional logistics hub. We see our sectors not as separate lanes, but as parts of a strong value chain advancing toward the same goal. Strong maritime, strong logistics, and strong collaboration mean a more competitive Türkiye. Through the collective wisdom of the public sector, private sector, and civil society, we will address challenges together and chart the course toward solutions together.

We came together with our sector representatives who are determined to chart a new course in maritime through collective wisdom, collaborative effort, and a steadfast commitment to a shared goal.

We met with our pilot captains who shoulder this responsibility at the Turkish Pilot Captains' Association. We will work to ensure that the knowledge and experience of our pilot captains receive the recognition they deserve in the sector, that issues awaiting resolution are addressed, and that they are more strongly represented in decision-making processes.

During our visit to UTİKAD, we listened to the sector's expectations, priorities, and recommendations for the future in maritime and logistics. Our common goal is to build a structure where all stakeholders of the maritime ecosystem can express themselves strongly, produce solutions together, and achieve more effective representation on the international stage.

Şadan Kaptanoğlu will be the live guest of Dünya Taşlardan on CNBC-e's e-Hayat program, where she will discuss global shipping, the transformation of the maritime industry, sustainability, and Türkiye's maritime vision.

We discussed the views expressed on numerous topics, from education to employment, international competition to working conditions, addressing the needs of our sector and our proposed solutions.

During our meeting at TÜRKLİM, we discussed the current needs facing our port operators and the priority areas as they prepare for the future. We listened to the sector's views on topics such as the green transition, digitalization, infrastructure investments, and public-private sector coordination. Listening to those who experience the problems firsthand is the first step toward producing the right solutions together. I believe that our Chamber of Shipping must operate with an approach that encompasses all stakeholders, focuses on solutions, and is guided by collective wisdom. At Mavi Marmara, we discussed our members' agenda, their experiences in the field, and the issues awaiting resolution. We emphasized the need to develop solutions through diverse perspectives.

We came together with past and current presidents and board members of KOSDER, one of our maritime sector's most valued organizations, to evaluate the sector's priorities and future goals. At this sincere gathering, where we discussed the present and future of Turkish maritime affairs, important steps were taken toward building a shared vision.

Şadan Kaptanoğlu met with representatives of the maritime press at the Büyük Kulüp to share her “New Course at Sea” vision.

We came together with our fishermen at the Istanbul Provincial Seafood Hunters and Producers Association to listen to their demands and expectations.

We came together with young graduates at the graduation ceremony of ITU's Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, sharing our hopes for the future of maritime affairs.

We met with distinguished representatives of our industry at the 5th Turkey Maritime Summit held at Tersane Istanbul.

We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the Cabotage Law and July 1st Maritime and Cabotage Day together with our maritime community, at a ceremony held at the Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha Monument in Beşiktaş, with the participation of our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

The Bosphorus Shipbrokers Dinner brought together prominent representatives of Turkish and global maritime affairs under one roof. Organized by the Ship Brokers Association, the event once again highlighted our country's culture of cooperation and international vision in the maritime field.
